October Recap
We are enjoying Fall in LTA 1! In pretend play, we explored goods and services through an apple orchard and pumpkin patch set-up. Students enjoyed fall activities of piling up leaves, picking apples, and sorting pumpkins. In literacy we read "Wants and Needs" and "A Treat for School". During our stories, we worked to identify key details and objects that paired with the books we were reading. In math, we focused on all things shapes. We visited some new Letterland friends this month, learned more sight words, and practiced building CVC words with our word families being taught. We worked on identifying shapes, sorting shapes of the same orientation, and putting two parts of a shape together to create a whole shape. In social studies we learned about economics, and practiced understanding supply and demand through our pretend play center (apple orchard and pumpkin patch). In science, we also utilized our pretend play center to reinforce classification of objects by size, shape, and color. In specials, we have enjoyed visiting Bogie the dog, meeting our Frankie Friends, starting music class, and continuing movement, library, and fine-motor groups. We wrapped up the month by going to the fair and trick-or-treating as a class. We are looking forward to continuing all of our Fall festivities in the month of November!
