In the month of November, we have been learning and exploring through our pretend play space station. Students have learned in science and pretend play how things serve the same function even if a property changes. We have also practiced making observations about the weather. In math, we began our counting unit and practiced counting with stories like Bear Counts, Animals at the Zoo, and Ten Black Dots. Students had fun exploring numbers, counting out various objects, and counting to tell how many. In ELA we read Sky Pup Explores the Sun and A Sunny Day at the Beach as we worked to retell the stories and identify key details. We continued practicing letter identification as we worked on sounding out and building CVC words from the word families ed, em, en, and et. We visited some new Letterland friends this month, learned more sight words, and practiced building CVC words with our word families being taught. We worked on identifying shapes, sorting shapes of the same orientation, and putting two parts of a shape together to create a whole shape. In social studies we learned about economics, and practiced understanding supply and demand through our pretend play center (apple orchard and pumpkin patch). In science, we also utilized our pretend play center to reinforce classification of objects by s...
