January 2025
This past month in January, we have been learning and exploring in Dramatic play Center with our candy shop! Students have playing with the lollipops, and gum-balls. We played with pattern beads, made cookies with pattern wooden pieces, and sold popsicles to friends. In math, we worked on counting, starting to compose numbers, and compare sizes- Long, short, and tall and short. We read 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed, 5 monkeys swinging in a tree, inch by inch, and the very hungry frog. In science, we talked about our body. We talked about the different systems in our bodies, we talked about our bones and parts of our body. We also talked about our 5 senses. We also talked about our sense in ELA and Reading. We read our book Jack Can about using his senses to do many different things. We also read Liam makes Lollipops. We worked on identifying key details in the book, and started comparing same and different in our stories. We continued practicing letter identification as we worked on sounding out and building CVC words from the word families -in, -og, and -ip. In Letterland, we visited Uppy Umbrella (U) impy ink (I) and Kicking King (K). In Writing we talked about Martin Luther King Jr. and about Winter. We talked about things we can do in the winter and how the weather is in the winter. We loved Mad Science this month, learning about mixing coloring and what happens when we mix them. We are bummed we didn't make it to Ravenscroft. Hope excited to have the kids come here in March. We are also excited about our Flour Power Trip in February, along with celebrating Valentines Day!
